In Oklahoma history, the musical Oklahoma! is one of the most popular Broadway musicals of all time. Based on the 1931 play, Green Grow the Lilacs, the musical became a major motion picture in 1955.
A BIG SHOUT OUT to Mr. Masoner, who teaches Grades 6, 7 and 8 math and science at Terral Public Schools in Jefferson County. His students are performing well on the OAS formative quizzes. After teaching 17 OAS Objectives so far this year, students’ running proficiency rates are well above par. Mr. Masoner is looking forward to how well his students do on their midyear benchmarks.
Today we honor Mrs. Stay, a math teacher at Butner Public Schools, as an Alpha Plus Hero! Mrs. Stay and the educator team at Butner go above and beyond for their students every day. Mrs. Stay uses “Success with OAS” math curriculum to meet her students’ needs.

Congratulations to McAlester Public Schools for Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS) Growth in 2020-21!
Data from spring benchmark assessments of the Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS) in reading and math found students in schools using OAS-aligned curriculum and assessments performing better than expected this year despite the pandemic.
At McAlester Public Schools in Pittsburg County, spring scores at all four schools using OAS-aligned benchmarks were above statewide averages in the fall and the spring and all posted above-average growth. Edmond Doyle and Will Rogers elementary schools posted the greatest growth from fall to spring at 27 percentage points with Emerson Elementary and Parker Intermediate achieving significant academic growth as well.

At Guymon Public Schools, spring scores at Academy Elementary (Grades 3-4) and North Park Elementary (Grades 5-6) are at or above the statewide average this spring and students posted significant academic growth.
